When a tooth needs to be replaced, one of the best permanent options is a dental implant. Safe and reliable, it can replace a missing tooth while leaving adjacent natural teeth untouched, and restore your tooth’s natural appearance and function, similar to a porcelain crown on a natural tooth.
Modern dental implants can significantly improve the quality of your life by restoring your smile, confidence, comfort, and peace of mind. They will allow you to chew normally and improve a diet that frequently has been limited to soft food.
Dental implants can also be used to support bridges for multiple missing teeth, thus avoiding traditional cemented bridges on adjacent natural teeth, or used to stabilize and secure loose or ill-fitting, complete removable dentures. However, EverSmile Dentistry does not recommend a full set of implants.
What is a Dental Implant?
A tooth replacement implant is made from a biocompatible titanium which is permanently implanted into the bone where the missing tooth was located. Natural bone grows around the implant to stabilize it. Once healed, EverSmile Dentistry will create a custom post or abutment that we attach to the implant, and a porcelain crown that is cemented in place on top.
Because the post of a dental implant is made from titanium, it fuses with the jawbone and will not decay like your natural teeth. It feels solid like a natural tooth and will not slip or make noise like dentures might.
