February is a busy month. Not only is Valentine’s Day fast approaching, but February is Children’s Dental Health Month. Parents, we ask that you take an active role in making sure your child is brushing properly and thoroughly for two minutes, twice each day. Preventing decay and infection starts at home in practicing good oral hygiene habits. Here are three ways you can help your child’s smile during Children’s Dental Health Month.
- Sing Together
You don’t need musical talent to have a fun time singing with your child. Choose a song to sing while you brush your teeth together. Don’t forget that you should brush for two full minutes. No one said those two minutes have to be boring, so pick a fun song to pass the time together.
- Make Brushing Fun
Is it time for a new toothbrush or toothpaste for your child? Go shopping together to pick out a toothbrush with a cool character. Try a new toothpaste or floss flavor this month. Make brushing fun and keep it interesting for your child.
- Post-Valentine’s Day Cleaning
For children, Valentine’s Day can mean extra candy and sugary treats. Schedule a visit to our office for a post-Valentine’s Day cleaning. We’ll help keep your child’s teeth clean. If your child does indulge in extra treats this month, be sure they are brushing twice each day and flossing as well. Doing so will help prevent decay.
Routine visits to our office are the best way to keep your child on track for maintaining teeth-friendly habits throughout their life. We will provide a complete oral examination and cleaning. Together, let’s make Children’s Dental Health Month successful by helping your child’s smile.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule your child’s next visit to see us, please contact our office. We look forward to seeing your child’s smile soon!
